Project type

Seattle, Washington

Location

Design + Construction

Role

This SCR-built residence in the historic Admiral District of West Seattle blends contemporary clarity with vintage warmth, creating a layered home that feels both polished and comfortably lived-in. Neutral palettes, natural light, and curated contrasts give each space its own character while maintaining a calm, cohesive whole.

Challenge

The project sought to balance modern sensibility with timeless charm, integrating contemporary architecture and detailing alongside antiques and vintage elements without turning is back on it's Dutch Colonial roots. The challenge was to create a home that felt refined yet approachable, with enough restraint to let materials, light, and furnishings carry the experience.

Solution

Organized around light-filled interiors and clear spatial flow, using pale wood floors and white walls as a quiet backdrop. Strategic moments of contrast—black stairs, hardware, and lighting—anchor the spaces and provide rhythm throughout. Large windows, French doors, and garden views blur the line between inside and out, reinforcing a sense of ease and connection to nature.

Materials + Craft

A restrained material palette of white and natural wood cabinetry, black metal accents, woven textures, and vintage fixtures creates warmth through contrast. Custom built-ins, integrated appliances, and thoughtful details—from a refurbished sunroom dining space to a Dutch front door framed by a deep arch—celebrate craftsmanship and personality, resulting in a home that feels both intentional and inviting.
