Role
This large multi-family residential development consisted of 36 townhomes, in addition to commercial spaces, together in 6 buildings.
Challenge
The site required a compact, efficient layout that balanced density with livability and neighborhood character.
Solution
SCR designed six buildings organized in two distinct configurations: a U-shaped cluster surrounding a central auto court and a traditional rowhouse arrangement. Each two- and three-bedroom unit includes a private garage and thoughtful circulation that fosters both privacy and community.
Materials + Craft
A restrained and durable material palette reinforces the project’s residential scale while supporting long-term performance. Articulated façades, varied siding textures, and carefully proportioned openings break down the massing of each building and reflect the rhythm of a walkable neighborhood. Warm, approachable exterior finishes are paired with straightforward detailing, allowing the architecture to feel grounded and familiar while maintaining a contemporary edge. Materials were selected for durability, ease of maintenance, and consistency across the six buildings, ensuring the development ages gracefully while contributing to the evolving character of the Ten Trails community.
